    Mirrors are a godsend to the artist.

    As pictures within pictures they can expand the storytelling considerably allowing you to see a lot more, different characters in the room behind the artist or to the side perhaps or parts of the body that would otherwise be obscured when others are on display.

    I love Montorgueil’s work, ever since I discovered it in cheap editions in a Times Square shop, and this drawing is a terrific one. The placid expression on her face, the slightly dazed yet inquiring one on the guy, the cautious grasping of his butt, the calm clasping of her hands…it’s not just the mirror that mirrors, but the parallels of their expressions and gestures. So much is said without saying it. Thanks for posting this, Richard.
