It looks like such a paid fantasy.. He’s a good artist, for sure, but this.. is unsettling. Being so attentive to details, I noticed the mans wearing a garter. =) That’s something new to me. And her impossible heels are fun to imagine.

Like he got paid to do it for someone with a stereotypical idea of femdom.. I guess they just might’ve been partial to angry women.
You are certainly right. Bill Ward was a commercial artist (as were most of the men who did the art reproduced here).
That Ward’s women are so harsh and sadistic is what submissive and masochistic guys like about them. I like his situations but do wish he had toned down the excessive breasts and ferocity. But he was most likely doing what his editor told him. And the editor was trying to respond to what sold.

I’ve long appreciated Bill Ward’s rendering skills, particularly gloves and satin gowns; he mastered that!
But I agree with Richard about the over-the-top angry expressions and “she’s gonna BLOW” breast over-inflation. Editors responding to what sells is why we have so many bad versions of the same stuff flooding the market, from films to TV shows to restaurant chains to advertising styles…
Support the independent art/restaurant/music scenes! It’s where the true creativity remains, and more of your money goes straight into the pockets of the talented few!
