Okay, John, you have a valid point. I wouldn’t argue with you at all. And there are plenty of women who do it. And many who I know for a fact have no racial prejudices. Frankly, I have no explanation for what — would seem to some — to be — at best — an uneven mindset on my part.
And I’ve thought about this many times, because I am aware quite aware of my own dichotomies. The best thing I can come up with is that it’s re. to my *real* personal life experiences. My gay friends in the real world usually have a well-honed sensibility regarding their sexual orientation. On the other hand, I have black girlfriends who are hyper-sensitive to the racial inequality still prevalent in America.
And, really, it’s about the “N” word for me. People have died over that word.
That might not be a perfect explanation, but it’s all I’ve got. And, you are right: The black man who needs this kind of play usually hangs up on me and moves on to someone who will do it for him. Ce la vie.
